OUR STORY

Camp Albrecht Acres was founded in 1975 as a unique environment for people with special needs to enjoy new opportunities and challenges in a safe environment adapted specifically for their needs. From our humble beginnings, camping in tents, Albrecht Acres has blossomed into a 40-acre residential camp serving over 600 campers each summer.

Campers enjoy a swim in the pool on summer afternoons, create masterpieces in our arts and crafts session, learn about nature in our newly renovated Beidler Nature Center and through fishing in the pond, and enjoy social time during our dances each week!

Camp Albrecht Acres is generously funded by our community, who understand the need for recreational services for our population of people with special needs. We thank you for your support, service, and financial contributions for the campers at Albrecht Acres.

Our Mission

To provide a safe, accessible and enjoyable summer camp experience for individuals with special needs.

Our Vision

To foster a diverse community working together to provide a safe, secure and inclusive environment adapted to the abilities of our campers, whereby each individual can reach their full potential with dignity through tailored recreational programs that focus on emotional growth and the enhancement of social and motor skills, sensory awareness and self-esteem.

Our Core Values

Community
We foster an environment for campers, staff and volunteers that promotes a culture where all can reach their full potential, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation.

Care
We believe in caring for our campers with compassion and integrity in an inclusive environment that emphasizes their welfare, safety and security.

Enjoyment
We provide a fun and affordable camping experience tailored to our campers' abilities. Our community engagement plays a vital role in the recreational opportunities and new experiences offered at camp.

Respect
We promote continual relationship building based on respect and human dignity within our camp community, staff, campers, and volunteers. We embrace the premise that all living things deserve respect, and we educate our community to appreciate and take responsibility for preserving our natural environment.
